Norwich City Heading for Relegation

Norwich City are still second favourites behind West Brom to be relegated with bookies VC Bet despite sitting a point above the relegation mire.

Nigel Worthington's side produced a battling 10-man performance to earn a vital 1-1 draw at Portsmouth on New Year's Day - a result that leaves them with 16 points from 21 matches.

But that points haul has failed to cut any mustard with VC Bet where the Canaries are quoted at 2/9 for the dreaded trap-door at the end of the season.

"Norwich are capable of playing some lovely football but they are prone to conceding too many soft goals," said VC Bet's football expert Nick Blezard.

"We believe that will be very costly when the bottom five or six clubs really start to scrap it out towards the end of the season."

Worthington's side next take on Liverpool at Carrow Road.

Harry Redknapp's Southampton are available at even money despite sitting second-from-bottom with 14 points from 21 games played.

"I've lost count of the amount of times that Saints have pulled themselves clear from danger year-on-year," said Blezard.

"They always seem to do it and with an experienced management team of Redknapp and Jim Smith at the helm they will probably manage it again."

Bottom-of-the-table West Brom (12 points from 21 matches) are 1/12 for the drop with Crystal Palace 1/4 (15 from 21).

None of the bottom four - West Brom, Southampton, Crystal Palace or Norwich - managed a win on New Year's Day.
