There is a definite opportunity here to back Australia for the full win and still make out with some extremely good value.

Thanks to Michael Hussey's near ton-and-a-half, combined with Ricky Ponting's excellent century, the Aussies are truly in the driver's seat going into day 3. India will start the day at 68-0 but if the Australian attack can take some early wickets with the new ball then things could take a decidedly darker turn for the home side. They are currently listed near 6-1 to secure the victory and, rest assured, it will take a massive effort and some extremely precise batting to pull a victory out of this test.

My theory is that even if the Indians come close to Australia's solid 430 all-out, their lax fielding will prove to be their undoing. One of the reasons the Aussies were able to keep the runs ticking so well was the Indians struggle with keeping 1's from turning into 4's. If India can tighten up their defence going into Australia's final innings then they stand a chance at the draw or, though it's a long shot, the win. I don't see it happening and I'm looking at Canbet's odds of 3.7 as good value for the Australian victory in the first test of the series.
